After the acne — the scars

Laser skin resurfacing for acne scars.

Acne scars are the texture acne can leave behind once the color has faded — and treating them well starts with a frank conversation about what's realistic. We can meaningfully soften many scars. We can't erase them, and we won't tell you otherwise.

Know the types

Types of acne scars.

Atrophic (depressed) scars — the most common after acne:

  • Rolling — broad, shallow, wave-like depressions.
  • Boxcar — wider depressions with defined edges.
  • Ice-pick — narrow, deep, pitted scars (the hardest to treat).
How it helps

How resurfacing addresses each.

Resurfacing prompts collagen remodeling that can lift and soften depressed scars over a series of sessions. The reality: shallower scars (many rolling and boxcar) tend to improve more; deep ice-pick scars improve less and may need different or combined approaches. Raised scars are a separate conversation.

What to expect

A multi-session protocol.

Scar improvement is cumulative across sessions, with collagen continuing to remodel for months afterward.

Real outcomes

Realistic outcomes.

We say "softer and smoother," not "scar-free." Our goal is meaningful, visible improvement you’re happy with — set against a clear baseline, tracked with photos. And if your scarring would be better served by a different specialist or a surgical approach, we’ll tell you rather than sell you a series that won’t deliver.
