Cystic acne: getting you to the right treatment.
Cystic acne — deep, painful, often scarring breakouts under the skin — is the kind of acne that deserves clarity, not a sales pitch. Here’s what it is, what actually helps, and how Clarity approaches it, including the cases where the clear answer is "you need more than we lead with."
What cystic acne is — and isn't.
Cystic and nodular acne are the most severe forms: large, inflamed, painful lesions deep in the skin that can last weeks and frequently scar. It’s not "bad hygiene" or ordinary breakouts turned up — it’s a more serious, more stubborn condition, and it’s the form most likely to leave lasting marks if it isn’t treated well.
Why it needs more than topicals.
Surface products rarely make a meaningful dent in true cystic acne. It often calls for medical treatment aimed at the whole process — and in more severe cases, systemic (oral) treatment prescribed and monitored by a dermatologist or physician.
How Clarity approaches it.
This is where we’re clear with you. AviClear® is designed for inflammatory acne, and there’s a point where cystic or severe acne is beyond what a laser alone should be the answer for. So our approach to a cystic patient is:
- A real assessment of how severe your acne actually is.
- Where appropriate, treatment that may include AviClear® for the inflammatory component, with clinical extractions where suitable — as part of a plan, never as a promise to "cure" severe disease.
- And if your acne is beyond what we should treat with our tools, we’ll tell you and help you get to a dermatologist or physician who can. Getting you to effective care matters more than keeping you in our chair.
Referred well beats treated wrongly.
Delaying the right treatment is how cystic acne scars. We’d rather refer you well than treat you wrongly.
